The measures introduced by Ocean Parking have proven to be highly effective. The installation of occupancy tracking systems has provided real-time data on parking availability, helping to manage the flow of vehicles more efficiently. The issuance of Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) to those abusing the car park has acted as a strong deterrent, ensuring that parking spaces are available for legitimate users. Additionally, the introduction of exclusion tablets, a specific email address and a whitelist facility has significantly reduced the number of PCNs issued, as these tools allow for better identification and management of authorized vehicles.

Financially, the Centre has also benefited from these measures. In less than three months, the Centre has welcomed over 14,000 visitors and generated £600 in revenue from parking fees. The flexible payment system has made it easier for visitors to pay for parking, further enhancing compliance and reducing the need for enforcement actions. Overall, the combination of these strategies has not only alleviated the parking issues but also provided a sustainable revenue stream for the Centre.

The Problem

Shere Medical Centre, which is situated on the outskirts of the popular tourist destination of Shere, faced significant challenges due to the limited parking availability offered in the village. The influx of tourists often led to the Centre’s parking facilities being misused by visiting motorists, causing inconvenience for patients and staff. To address this issue, Ocean Parking was asked to implement a comprehensive management system aimed at regulating parking usage, deterring unauthorized parking, and generating revenue during limited, off-peak periods.

The Solution

By understanding and then working in collaboration with the Centre Manager, Ocean Parking have implemented a system which fulfils the Client requirements. As such, patients can now park uninhibited, and the Centre fully understand real time and historical usage. Further to the above, numerous validation/exclusion mechanisms curtail the unnecessary issuance of PCNs, whilst a new revenue stream has been realised via the implementation of a payment system, utilised during off-peak periods.
