Securing Scotia Road: A Comprehensive Security Overhaul

When Anchor was approached by a client managing a new commercial site on Scotia Road, the property lacked any form of security infrastructure. The client needed a comprehensive solution to secure the premises, manage access, and monitor vacant units—all while keeping operational costs low.

The implementation of Anchor’s security solution delivered measurable improvements in both security and operational efficiency:

  • Automated Access: 40% of all site entries and exits are now handled through the automated gate system.
  • Cost Savings: The client significantly reduced daily expenses related to manual gate operations and on-site security checks.
  • Operational Flexibility: The landlord can now show units without triggering alarms, and VPI costs are reduced as units are leased.

The Problem

The client approached us with a unique challenge: a site with no existing security measures and a need to start from scratch. They required a comprehensive security solution, including securing empty units, conducting void checks, and ensuring the site entrance was protected.

Manual gate operations were inefficient, costly, and vulnerable to security breaches.
Vacant units were unmonitored, risking damage from leaks, floods, or unauthorised access.
There was no centralised system for monitoring or managing site access and security.

The Solution

Anchor implemented a multi-layered security solution tailored to the site’s unique needs:

  • Automated Gate System: The existing gates were upgraded with RAMs and integrated with a digipad/intercom system. This allowed for scheduled opening/closing and a free exit loop for after-hours departures.
  • Remote Access Control: The intercom system enabled seamless entry for deliveries and visitors without manual intervention.
  • Wireless Intruder Alarms: Temporary alarms were installed in each unit, monitored remotely, and removed as units were leased.
  • CCTV Surveillance: Cameras were strategically placed at the main gate and car park, providing 24/7 remote monitoring.
  • Void Property Inspections (VPI): Regular inspections ensured unoccupied units remained free from damage or hazards.

This integrated approach not only enhanced security but also streamlined operations and reduced the need for on-site personnel.
