The data shows how the management of the HGV-authorised route works. Only 1 in 85,000 journeys through the village closest to the site are HGVs that do not adhere to the route.
Given the site and movements in and around the site, 99.9% of HGV’s using the site adhere to prescribed HGV routes.
The solution has allowed our client to address a range of planning concerns which have previously been a barrier to warehousing development.
HGVs were frequently using local roads that were unsuitable for such heavy traffic. This not only caused disruptions and safety concerns for local residents but also led to increased wear and tear on the infrastructure
Managing HGV routes involved multiple stakeholders, including private landowners, local councils, and the property managing agent. This complexity made it difficult to implement a cohesive and effective management strategy
The site had to navigate various planning laws and regulations, adding another layer of complexity to the management of HGV movements. Ensuring compliance with these laws while addressing the operational needs of the logistics site was a significant challenge.
Any monitoring or management system implemented had to be compliant with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements. This necessitated careful planning and execution to ensure data privacy and security were maintained.
The local community frequently lodged complaints about the noise, pollution, and safety hazards posed by HGVs using unsuitable roads. Addressing these complaints and improving community relations was a critical aspect of the problem.
There was a need for a robust monitoring and reporting system to track HGV movements and ensure compliance with designated routes. This system had to be capable of providing accurate and timely data to all stakeholders involved.
A fully funded tailored ANPR solution was developed to report on the movements of HGV ensuring they adhere to prescribed routes. Alongside this management, further planning conditions called for a way residents could report suspected infringements, to which Ocean Parking happily obliged and developed for the client.
Monthly reporting shows 99.9% of HGV’s use prescribed route as the ANPR monitoring system is backed up with clear signage in and around the site.
