Get Living security review

Get Living is the UK’s leading build-to-rent operator, developer and investor, managing 4,000 homes across three neighbourhoods in London and Manchester with a further 6,500 in the pipeline across the UK. They engaged PAL Protect, Anchor’s in house consultancy division to undertake a full security review of their 6 corporate offices across the UK.The objective of the review was to provide Get Living with a detailed assessment of the security of their office locations highlighting any potential security weaknesses and proposing solutions to mitigate any risks identified, whilst offering technological and data protection advice in relation to all of the security systems and processes deployed within the office areas.

Anchor presented the Get Living senior leadership team with a comprehensive report detailing the findings of the review across their corporate office portfolio. This presentation included a detailed explanation of the potential risks identified across the offices reviewed and any immediate actions and recommendations as a result of the security reviews.

Following the presentation, Anchor Group Services’ PAL Protect consultancy division were engaged further to oversee and support the implementation of the recommendations with a focus on embedding the future security technology strategy that could be rolled out across all Get Living offices across the UK. An approach which has resulted in enhanced security measures, process standardisation and consistency across the portfolio.

The Problem

Get Living were facing the issues commonly faced with a business operating multiple locations throughout the UK with differing security standards and operating procedures from region to region. They looked to PAL Protect to support the identification of current and future risks as well as the standardisation of processes and procedures to maximise security across the portfolio.

Pal Protect’s proposed approach was to conduct in depth reviews of each property and then formally present the review findings to the Get Living senior management team. The aim of this approach was to provide a detailed insight into our observations and then develop a strategy for the implementation of our recommendations. Pal Protect also offered additional ongoing support to implement the agreed recommendations from the report.

The findings of our report and recommendations included:

Access Control:- Recommendations to standardise access systems and policies across the office estate to enhance security and introduce a consistent approach to security.

Documentation and Procedures:- To develop robust operational procedures which will ensure that Get Living employees and their suppliers understand clearly the role they are to play in maintaining security whilst working and visiting Get Living offices.

CCTV:- Supporting with GDPR requirements of operating and monitoring Public Space CCTV systems and ensuring that full compliance is in place.
