As one of the UK’s fastest growing car park management companies, the team at Anchor’s parking division, Ocean Parking, is continually looking at ways in which we can stay at the forefront of the industry and maintain our enviable reputation for outstanding customer service.
This led us to welcoming industry expert, Gary Lee, to the team late last year as our Director of Parking Strategy. Gary will be helping to develop a detailed strategy and guidance for our senior management team to ensure we are continually operating in a customer focused, data driven way that increasingly generates revenue for our clients.
Background on Gary Lee
After a 13 year career in the Navy, Gary began working for a company that dealt with parking management and the rest, as they say is history.
In the 22 years since he joined the industry Gary has worked in a number of high profile parking organisations including NCP, Savills and Heathrow Airport. His work during this time saw him build the largest parking control room in the world, with over 160 car parks all networked into one control room in Croydon. The feat is particularly impressive as, whilst control rooms are very common now, at the time in which this was achieved they were few and far between.
After a short break from the parking industry, focusing on his passion for photography, Gary was approached by our very own Andrew Harper whilst we sought the ideal individual to support the development of the Ocean Parking strategy.
Of course, with a long and successful career in the industry, Gary has seen the creation and adoption of many technologies that support the parking industry, improving efficiency, security and customer service.
It is within these areas that Gary and the Ocean Parking team place a strong focus to ensure this division is at the forefront of the industry for customer care and fairness whilst increasing revenue for our clients.
Speaking of his role, Gary has said:
“Whilst the business model for many large parking companies focuses on fines to generate revenue, this is not the way in which Ocean Parking wants to operate.
We want to change people’s perception of the parking industry and provide ‘kind’ parking management; instead generating revenue for our clients by looking at opportunities for value added services, driven by key data.”
