DFDS now operates a secure, fully monitored site with automated access, zoned alarms and reliable surveillance. Anchor’s cost-effective use of existing infrastructure and collaborative approach ensured minimal disruption and maximum value.

100% of previously non-functional or misconfigured systems including alarms, CCTV and access control are now fully operational and compliant.

The Problem

DFDS inherited a site with a range of security challenges. From malfunctioning intercoms and CCTV to unzoned intruder alarms and unsecured HGV areas, the site posed significant operational and safety risks.

The HGV overnight area was unsecured, with only a manual gate and no access control.
Intruder alarms were not zoned, allowing unrestricted access to sensitive areas during night hours.
CCTV, intercoms and access control systems were either faulty or completely non-functional, leaving the site vulnerable.

The Solution

Anchor’s Technical Services team conducted a full site survey and delivered a detailed report outlining all security failings. Working closely with DFDS, Anchor prioritised the most urgent issues and implemented a phased approach to restore and enhance site security:

  • HGV Gate Automation: The previously manual gate securing the overnight HGV area was automated and integrated with access control, ensuring only authorised vehicles could enter.
  • Intruder Alarm Reconfiguration: Alarm zones were restructured to prevent drivers from accessing sensitive areas during rest periods, using existing equipment to minimise costs.
  • CCTV and Intercom Repairs: Faulty systems were repaired where possible and outdated components were replaced or upgraded to ensure full site coverage and communication.
  • Access Control Overhaul: Anchor serviced and reset the access control software, restoring functionality to entrance barriers and internal restricted zones.
  • Collaborative Implementation: Anchor worked alongside DFDS to address each concern systematically, ensuring the client regained full control and visibility of the site.
  • Ongoing Maintenance: Anchor now provides full maintenance and intruder monitoring, including mobile response services when needed.
